Jennifer MacLean is the author of “An Ode To Myself: Poetry Written For Cats, By A Cat”

Jennifer MacLean was born in Calgary, Canada, and has lived there most of her life—it is here she (and her cat) wrote the aforementioned book of poetry.

She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre, with electives in art and military history. For those of you who think this is a pretty strange combination, it is, in fact, the best combination if you want to end up working in another field altogether. Incidentally, her training in theatre and strategic studies allowed her to fall into her role as Lieutenant-Colonel, fight coordinator, dramaturge, and craft services for Newton, her irritable cat (who claims to have written these poems himself).

So, who really wrote this first collection? Was it Jennifer or was it Newton? No one can really know for sure; truly this is one of life’s great mysteries that will continue for many years to come. Regardless, Newton is the love of Jennifer’s life and is incredibly handsome and smart, and definitely did not write this last sentence at all.
