About Jennifer

Jennifer MacLean, Author

Jennifer MacLean was born in Calgary, where she still lives, and remains quietly convinced that she is meant to live by the ocean. The ocean has not yet been informed of this arrangement.

She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre, with electives in art and military history — a combination that explains rather a lot. Depending on the week, she can be found working as a Lieutenant-Colonel, a fight coordinator, a dramaturge, or craft services for Newton, who is a demanding client but pays in company.

Whether the poems that follow were written by Jennifer, or dictated to her by Newton in the small hours, remains one of life’s great mysteries. Neither party has been especially forthcoming.

Newton

Newton is irritable, incredibly handsome, considerably smarter than he lets on, and the love of Jennifer’s life. He is trained in classical literature and has a particular gift for rhyming couplets and iambic pentameter, delivered with the unbothered confidence of a cat who has never once wondered how his poems will be received. Audience reception, as a concept, does not interest him.

Michael Dargie | An Ode To Myself

Illustrating An Ode To Myself was Michael’s first book illustration credit, even though he has been doodling in books, on tests, desks, and walls since he can remember. He is the author and illustrator of his own business book BrandJitsu®: Move Your Brand From ‘Meh’ To Memorable and keeps himself busy with a myriad of creative projects including 100 Days of Doodles. He splits his time between Calgary and Vancouver Island.

colleen regin | A Visit From Krampus

This is the first illustration credit for Colleen MacLean (AKA colleen regin) and she hopes not the last. Colleen likes to create joyful and silly art, creating whimsical and sometimes absurd animals through digital art, drawing, or linocut printmaking. She is always looking for a new creative adventure, so keep an eye out for what comes next.
